Creating your own Launchpad account lets you contribute to a wide range of open source software projects, in several ways:

  • reporting and commenting on bugs
  • creating and commenting on feature specifications (blueprints)
  • translating into different languages
  • asking for and offering help
  • viewing and contributing code.

Step by step guide

Step 1: Visit [https://launchpad.net launchpad.net] in your web browser.

Step 2: Click Log In / Register in the top right corner of the page.

Step 3: Enter your email address, in the Not registered yet? section, then click Register.

Step 4: Within a few minutes, you'll receive an email from Launchpad with the subject line "Finish your Launchpad registration". To continue your registration, click the link in the body of the email.

This will open the Complete your registration page in your web browser.

{i} Note: Occasionally, email from Launchpad is incorrectly trapped by spam filters. If you don't receive the confirmation email, try step 3 again, using a [http://mail.google.com Gmail] address.

Step 5: Enter the the that other Launchpad users will see when they view your profile and contributions, in the Display name text-box.
